Self-reflection

Why should we spend time self-reflecting?

Hi friend,

Self-reflecting is a skill that we all should be practising. More than often, we’re caught up thinking about the next thing in the future.

The next milestone.

The next goal.

The next achievement.

The simple practice of self-reflection can help us zoom out and change our perspective on things.

How do you self-reflect?

Put simply, self-reflecting is the act of thinking about our own feelings and behaviour.

Here are three reasons why you should spend time self-reflecting:

  1. Boosts productivity

When you take time to pause and look inward, you can identify what’s really working and what’s not.

Instead of going through the motions, you’ll find it easier to prioritize what matters most.

Think of this as giving yourself a clear roadmap for the day, week, or even month.

This way, you can spend your energy on tasks that actually get you closer to your goals, instead of feeling busy but stuck.

  1. Learning from our mistakes

Self-reflection allows you to step back and see where things didn’t go as planned.

It’s not about beating yourself up. Instead, it’s about finding those learning moments that can help you grow.

Mistakes are some of our greatest teachers, but if we’re always moving without pause, we miss the lessons.

The simple act of reflecting helps us to spot patterns, recognize triggers, and approach challenges differently the next time we experience them.

  2. To become more self-aware

Self-awareness is an important element of personal growth.

When you reflect, you gain a better understanding of who you are—your values, strengths, weaknesses, and everything in between.

When was the last time you connected with yourself?

Self-reflection is like having a conversation with yourself to really know what drives you, what holds you back, and what you want out of life.

With self-awareness, you can make choices that align with who you truly are, instead of just going with the flow.

Here’s a simple practice that I do before going to bed every night: I write down 3 things I’m grateful for and 3 lessons that I learned on the day.

Love always,
