Progress vs. Perfection

The power of zooming out from time to time

Hi friend,

Most of us are so busy chasing perfection that we often neglect the progress we’ve made.

This is where the power of zooming out from time to time helps incredibly.

Think about it.

3 years ago, you probably wanted what you have right now. The thing you’ve been taking for granted up until this moment. A little bit of self-reflection will reveal a lot of hidden treasures.

Somehow this is hard for us.

Because we’re so focused on the next goal, the next step, and the next milestone we lose sight of where we are right now and how far we’ve come. It’s all about what you want in the future.

What’s next. What’s missing. What’s pending.

But what about what you’ve already done?

It’s time to shift the gears.

Chase progress over perfection.

Now, I know this may sound hypocritical coming from a perfectionist herself. But I’ve spent years trying to be “perfect” at everything I do, only to find out that perfection is somewhat subjective.

What’s perfect to me may not be perfect to you. Also, perfection is exhausting to keep up with day in and day out.

Progress, on the other hand, is where the magic happens.

You spend 3 months at the gym and don’t see a lot of changes. Then, in the 4th month, it all adds up. You may have not been 100% “perfect” every single day but what matters is that you chose to continue progressing.

That’s an example of the power of progress. It may not look perfect but it adds up over time.

If you’re setting goals, focus on progressing rather than being perfect all the time.

It’ll release some of the pressure and make you enjoy the journey more.’

Love always,
